India: Lucknow Fuel Retailers Preparing to Shut Businesses in Pr (08/11/2012)

Fuel retailers in the city of Lucknow have said that they are closing their doors for 12 hours on November 8 to protest increases in water and house tax, as well as several recent robberies retailers say they authorities did not do enough about.
“The government and the administration are doing nothing to solve our problems. We have no other way but to stop vending fuel and close our operations,” said Ranjeet Kumar, President of the Lucknow Petrol Dealer Association. “On top of that, our election payments are also pending since the assembly elections of 2007 in the state."
The city contains approximately 140 fuel service stations.
