Ireland: Topaz, Eircom, Team on Wi-Fi (29/12/2012)
Topaz Energy and telecommunications provider eircom have announced a new partnership that will see eircom's WifFiHub solution rolled out across 110 fuel service stations. Customers in a Topaz station with WiFiHub will now be able to access the internet from their smartphones, tablets or laptops.
To access the services, customers will simply need to log on to the eircom WiFiHub page. First time users must register to use the service, after which they can automatically log on at any eircom WiFiHub hotspot. Users can also download a the free eircom WiFiHub app from the Android and Apple stores. The first ten minutes of use are free, after which a charge of €1 covers use up to midnight on the same day at any eircom WiFiHub.
“We are delighted to partner with Topaz to bring the eircom WiFiHub service to people as they travel around Ireland. This service will not only benefit the large workforce of reps, drivers and those travelling for business meetings but also the recreational traveller who wishes to use the internet to help break up a long journey, access information on the destination they are travelling too or look for directions. We are committed to rolling out the eircom WiFiHub service at convenient locations so that everyone can enjoy the service whenever they need it. We already have over 1,500 WiFi hotspots around the country including at locations such as Dublin Airport. As the popularity of smartphones and tablets increases the need for widely available WiFi will continue to grow,†said Elaine Robinson, Director of Products and Strategy at eircom.
Paul Candon, Director of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Topaz, noted that the new initiative would further enhance the customer experience offered by the company. “We are constantly looking at ways of improving the services on offer at our service stations and providing internet access for all our customers via eircom WiFiHub is the latest element of that process. Whether it’s for business or recreational use, our customers will now be able to access the internet while grabbing a coffee or a tasty snack at anyone of our 120 company owned sites nationwide. And by accessing our recently launched ‘Topaz App’ customers will be able to find the Topaz site nearest to them, get a mapped route to that site as well as availing of a mileage check facility and regular Special App offers†he added.
