Spain: Repsol Signs Electric Mobility Deal (20/02/2013)

Spanish oil major Repsol has signed an agreement regarding its electric mobility climate project, under which the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment undertakes to acquire the greenhouse gas emission reductions generated by this initiative.
In a signing ceremony, various selected projects were presented before the Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, Miguel Arias Cañete. Repsol's Executive Director for the Industrial and New Energy Unit, Josu Jon Imaz, was also in attendance.
Repsol’s initiative will see 300 EV charging points installed by the company nationwide. “With this project, and in line with its commitment to sustainability, Repsol is contributing to the fight against climate change in our country, promoting a new energy vector for transport without emissions,” said the company in a statement. “The operator for these terminals will be IBIL, a company which is 50% owned by Repsol Nuevas Energías and the EVE (Basque Energy Body) which already has comprehensive charging services for electric vehicles operating in both the Basque Country and the rest of Spain.”
Repsol will act as the project manager and coordinator, organising the follow-up and monitoring system for the data required to calculate the emission reductions. Meanwhile, the Ministry will acquire the greenhouse gas emission reductions generated by these initiatives from Repsol.
