Kenya: Puma Backing out on KenolKobil Deal, Claim Media (13/12/2012)
Media in Kenya report that Puma Energy has lost interest in acquiring Kenyan oil marketer KenolKobil after a series of delays and hold-ups in the transaction.
Kenyan news outlet Standard Media, which quoted a highly-placed source in KenolKobil's management, claimed that negotiations had broken down. Local newspapers had previously speculated on the issue, claiming that delays in regulatory approval for the deal had arisen.
However, KenolKobil is refusing to comment on whether or not the €223 million deal was pulled despite Puma's deadline for completing due diligence on the acquisition having expired and no results being published. Puma Energy declined to comment on the matter.
